About Us

Michigan Playmakers was established in the fall of 2009 and begun competing soon after. The AAU Organization was established by former basketball players of Bishop Borgess High School & that's where the green and gold uniforms came from. The 1st team was a 9 & under travel team which played schools & organizations such as Southfield Christian, Bates Academy, Franklin Road Christian, Motor City Legends, Eastside Warriors and others.

In January 2010, Michigan Playmakers began practices and workouts for kids ages 4-10. Since we have competed in leagues and tournaments with our 10u, 9u, 8u & 6u in Canton, Detroit, Highland Park, Southfield, Warren and Flint. We are constantly growing as an organization and in the process our kids are learning how to play the game the right way (discipline). We have over 50 kids in less than a year that participate in practice or games or both.

Our Goal is to establish a name that will be around for decades and in the process become one the of the most competitive youth basketball organizations in the world. Furthermore help every kid that spends a significant amount of time with us, prepare and have an opportunity to receive a College Scholarship.

As of January 15, 2011 we have grown to over 150 kids ages 4-11, that participate in our developmental in-house league or travel aau teams. Our growth is directly due to word of mouth advertisement of our parents and sponsorships opportunities from Adidas and State Farm. We have been able to partner with the Detroit Pistons, University Of Detroit and Wayne State University in clinics, game nights and free or discounted tickets for are organization.

Also, in our second year we have hosted successful camps, tournaments and clinics throughout Southeastern Michigan. Our teams have/or will travel to play in tournaments in Lansing, Yspilanti, Auburn Hills, Westland and Chicago, Illinois. We have competed against various school teams and basketball clubs in the Detroit area like Henly Int'l Academy, Gesu, Fabe, The Family, Pontiac Cobras, Power Stroke, Gators, Judges Court, Detroit Showtime etc...

As of March 2012 we have become Michigan's Premier basketball organization. Our growth is directly contributed to our outstanding parent support and over 30 dedicated coaches. We have over 300 young adults from ages 4 - 16 participating year round in leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments throughout the country. We've added 14u and 16u teams that will be very competitive within the state of Michigan.

As of March 2013 our organization has become respected nationally for having dedicated coaches and hard working kids. Are LOYAL parents have continued to establish us as first class organization. We have year round training for all ages and the growth of our kids have been astronomical in their knowledge of the game and their skill sets. We have traveled throughout the country to places like Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and competed against some of the top teams in the country.

Beginning April 1, 2014 we have all age groups competing around the country in the highest level tournaments. Our 16u & 17u this spring/summer will play on all four NCAA certified weekends in Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Las Vegas. This will give all the kids great exposure and scholarship opportunities at the Division I, II, III and NAIA levels. We are extremely excited about the opportunity they will have along with our younger kids experience competing with the best competition against teams from Maryland, New York, Indiana etc...

As of September 2017 - Michigan Playmakers has sent 95% of our First (3) Graduating Classes 2015', 2016' & 2017' to college on some level! We are proud of the progression and growth of our kids and program. We have been able to stand the test of time by emphasizing development, training and trusting the process. We have seen growth in our coaches, parents and especially our student athletes! The future is bright as College Coaches know what they are getting when recruiting a 'Playmaker Kid'.
